Looking for a little family getaway to extend the summer? Head to Île d'Orléans, which is certainly not just for adults. Children will also find something to enjoy by putting these good addresses on your itinerary. Let's go!
Taste
A stroll on Île d'Orléans is an opportunity to stock up on gourmet products and have a picnic in the fields. For this, there is no shortage of good addresses and green spaces.
Where to stop? Kids will love the potato holes and doughnuts at Les Saveurs de l'Isle d'Orléans . The rustic venue also allows you to learn more about the processing of berries and visit the vast garden. Perfect for getting the kids running around!
A must-see is La Chocolaterie de l'Île d'Orléans . Young and old alike are always tempted by a cone dipped in one of the house's chocolates, which they then enjoy while walking on the Horatio-Walker promenade, located across the street. Psst! There's also a new branch in Saint-Laurent!
Just the name makes the kids laugh. The Tiguidou jam shop , which has been awarded several times, is also one of our favorites. In addition to being delicious (and less sweet than those in stores!), all the jams are made from the island's berries. Don't forget to bring back a jar or two for grandma!
Children will be impressed by the period costumes of the employees of Fromages de l'isle d'Orléans , where the very first cheese made in America was made. Le Paillasson grilling cheese is a favorite of little gourmands, as is the cheddar curds.
Also worth mentioning is Cassis Monna et Filles , which also welcomes several families to its enchanting site. While parents enjoy the blackcurrant-based alcoholic products, the little ones can have fun in the sandbox and enjoy a vanilla-blackcurrant soft drink.
Another must-see is the Vignoble Ste-Pétronille. This summer, the family estate acquired a pizza oven that will delight families!
Explore
Are your children itching to climb the steps of the Parc de la Tour-du-Nordet observatory, located in Saint-François, on the eastern tip of the island. From the top of the tower, you can not only admire the islands of the archipelago, but also the St. Lawrence River estuary.
At the Saint-Laurent Maritime Park , there is so much to discover! Visit the rowboat, learn how to tie sailor's knots and take part in a rally! The site is also magnificent for a picnic, on the banks of the river, in front of a unique panorama. Psst! The Panache Mobile gourmet canteen is set up there until September 6.
Located near the entrance to the island, the Espace patrimonial Félix-Leclerc not only pays tribute to the work of this great Quebec poet, but also invites you to take a short hike. The 3 km long Sentier d'un flâneur will take you near the river and introduce you to the flora and fauna of Île d'Orléans.
Harvest
One of the most popular family activities on the Island is of course picking your own. Many farms welcome families to harvest berries, apples and cucurbits, among others, depending on the season. Many even offer tractor rides, playgrounds and amenities.
Sleep
Are the kids tired? Why not sleep on the island and extend your stay? In addition to the hostels, there is Camping Orléans , which is a favorite among families, with its many services and amenities. While Camping de la pointe also offers original and rustic micro-shelters.
Summer hasn't said its last word!

Strolling around the island on a sunny day? We love Grech & Co. sunglasses, which are made from recycled plastic. Their free style and ethical conscience perfectly match the essence of the Island!
For a joyful stroll in the fields, floral patterns are just the thing. We love the new Petit Lem collection, whose diaper covers made of soft organic cotton offer a gentle seasonal transition.
Is the road long for the little ones? To entertain them on the road to the holidays, have a sound picture book from Auzou on hand. We particularly like the one with holiday nursery rhymes!
For country picnics or to keep snacks cool, don't forget to slip a cooler bag into your lunch box. We love the ones from So Young , whose style goes perfectly with the lunch boxes in the collection. Psst! They'll be perfect for back to school!
Rain coming? No worries. Riffle Paper Co. ’s pretty floral umbrellas, in adult versions, will brighten up the day. Their prints even coordinate with hair scrunchies. Keep strolling!
